Welcome to Barnsley and District branch of the University of the Third Age (U3A).
We are a lively and friendly organisation offering a wide range of study, creative and leisure groups for the retired and semi-retired. It is a good way to meet people and make new friends. Costs are low because our activities are organised by our members who share their skills and expertise. We have interest groups meeting regularly and once a month we have a general meeting open to all members where we occasionally have a guest speaker.
We have lunches twice a month at local pubs, and day trips and holidays arranged to places of general or group interest. Use the menu above to explore in detail what we have to offer.
We hope you will join us, especially if you have an interest or skill to share. To find out more please contact our Membership Secretary on 0751 2206 285 and maybe arrange to come along to one of our Monthly Meetings on the first Monday of each month at 1:30pm, Priory Campus, Pontefract Road, Lundwood.

The February Monthly Meeting proved to be fascinating with part of a film being shown and talk given by Arek Hersh MBE, a holocaust survivor (seen here with the Chairman). If you missed the meeting or want to see the whole of the film you can do so via this link - www.arekmovie.com/
Have a Laugh - Our Annual Luncheon took place on 14th Nov 2011 with the Gelotology Group providing some of the entertainment. Click on the link below to watch the video on YouTube - but do come back.

The next Monthly Meeting will be on 5th March - when one of our members will give a talk on the origins of Nursery Rhymes, plus collect your copy of The Buzz newsletter.
