The Art Appeciation group, started in 2005, and aims at developing members’ awareness and understanding of the work, lives and historical contexts of a variety of artists, new and old, well known and less so.
Although the main emphasis is likely to be on painting, other art forms (e.g. sculpture; textiles; architecture) will be considered. Meetings occur monthly (see the U3A Magazine for details), and will include video/slide presentations, talks, gallery visits and ‘open’ sessions at which members will bring and discuss examples of artwork.

Through these meetings we hope that our understanding of concepts, techniques and styles will help us better to describe what we like (and do not like), and why.
