Choral Singing Group
This group meets weekly at Emmanuel Church on Tuesdays from 1.45pm to 3.45pm.
We enjoy singing a range of music for mixed voices, from traditional pieces to more up to date items including songs from the musical stage and arrangements of popular modern songs.
Our sessions begin with a “warm-up”, devoted to aspects of singing such as correct posture, breath control and voice production. We then move on to learning and singing our chosen pieces.
Singing together in harmony is a great recreation and a wonderful tonic!

In March the Choir provided the entertainment at a Masonic Ladies Evening in Eastgate, Barnsley. Invited by Brian Pullman, the master of the Masonic Chapter and a choir member, both the choir and the audience had an enjoyable evening.
The success of the evening prompted Robert Hampshire, also a member of the choir and the Charity Steward at another Masonic Lodge to apply for a grant from a charitable Yorkshire Masonic Fund for music and folders for the choir.
At the choir practice on Tuesday 31st May he was pleased to be able to tell the choir that the application had been successful and choirmaster Tony Jermy was delighted to receive a cheque for £500.
