Discussion Group

The Discussion Group normally meets on the last Friday evening of each month at Priory Campus.

Members take part in lively, friendly discussion on topical or controversial subjects with members of the group taking it in turns to lead the group on a previously agreed subject or one of their own choosing.

From time to time there might well be some wandering from the original theme but this usually adds to the interest of the ongoing discussion.

Last year we discussed a very varied range of subjects. In January we discussed our increasing reliance on money and all the modern technology it can procure for us.

The growing problem of teenage pregnancies was one topic of conversation and also the wider difficulties such as single parentage  and the question of the cost of accommodating and supporting them.  

At the other end of the cycle we talked of financing pensions and increasing longevity.

The expense of warfare was one very hot topic together with “should we be engaged in our current range of conflicts”?

The list goes on ......
